Year 6 into Year 7 Transition

The transition from primary to secondary school is an important one for you and for your child; we will work hard to make sure that this is a positive experience for all, even under the current circumstances. We are confident that we can transition your child safely and will work with parents and primary schools to ensure the transition is smooth and successful for every child

We work closely with our feeder primary schools to ensure that students are prepared and ready to move to secondary school. The process begins in October with our Open Evening; students and parents are invited to visit us to hear about why Putteridge High is the first choice for a successful future. This occasion allows everyone to meet staff and current students and to see some of the activities that go on in the school.

When families have been allocated a place we contact all our families to make an initial introduction.  During the months of April, May and June, members of the pastoral and support teams make contact with the primary schools to discuss students and share information about the children coming to us in September.  This ensures that any relevant information is passed on and helps us to get to know our new students and plan ahead. In July there will be a transition day where all Y6 students visit their allocated new secondary school. You will receive further information about this day shortly.
